Latvia Digital Nomad Visa
Latvia's Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) grants a Temporary Residence Permit to remote workers and self-employed freelancers — and it fits alongside Latvia's other residency and investment routes, all of which BIZ TRP covers in depth.

A correction worth knowing: this isn't a nationality-restricted visa
It's a common misunderstanding that Latvia's Digital Nomad Visa is only open to citizens of OECD countries. That's not accurate: for a non-EU/EEA applicant, the actual requirement is that your employer — or your own registered business, if self-employed — must be based in an OECD country. Your own passport's nationality isn't the restriction; where your income comes from is. This matters if, say, you hold a non-OECD passport but work for a company legally registered in the US, Germany, or another OECD member — you can still qualify.
Family and tax. Dependents, including a spouse and children, may be eligible to join you on the Digital Nomad Visa, though additional income requirements may apply. With a Latvian TRP, you're permitted to travel within the Schengen Area. If you reside in Latvia for over 183 days in a year, you may become a Latvian tax resident — worth confirming with a tax advisor.
Latvia's other residency and investment routes
If the Digital Nomad Visa doesn't fit your situation, Latvia has more routes than any other country on this site: Golden Visa investment routes, Work Permit, EU Blue Card, Director Residence, Self-Employed, and Startup Visa — see our Latvia relocation overview for the full map.

Why work with BIZ TRP
The OECD-employer-location rule gets misunderstood constantly — including in some of the guidance circulating online — and getting it right up front avoids wasted applications.
- Eligibility clarification. We confirm the actual rule — employer/business location, not your own nationality — against your specific situation.
- Route comparison. We help you weigh the Digital Nomad Visa against Latvia's other residency routes if more than one could fit.
- OCMA application management. We manage your application from documentation through OCMA approval.
Common questions
Do I need to be a citizen of an OECD country to apply?
No — this is a common misreading of the rule. What actually matters is that your employer, or your own registered business if self-employed, is based in an OECD country. Your own passport's nationality isn't the restriction.
Can this lead to permanent residency?
Yes — after 5 years of continuous residence you can apply for permanent residency, and after 10 years total (5 on TRP, 5 on PR) you may be eligible for citizenship, subject to Latvian language and civics exams.
How does this compare to Latvia's other residency routes?
It's one of several — Latvia also offers Golden Visa investment routes, a Work Permit, EU Blue Card, Director Residence, Self-Employed, and Startup Visa routes. We can help confirm which one actually fits your situation.
