How it works
Choose your application method
Apply online through the Croatian Ministry of Interior, in person at a Croatian embassy or consulate, or at a local police station if already in Croatia.
Submit your application
Provide all required documents with the completed application form (Form 1a if applying in person).
Pay the applicable fee
Fees vary by method — embassy/consulate: temporary stay €60 + residency card €40; police station: administrative fee €30, or €60 fast-track.
Await a decision
Processing times vary; applicants are notified of the outcome.
Register your residence
Upon arrival, register your temporary residence address at the local police administration/station within 3 days.
Obtain your biometric residence card
Provide biometric data and receive your residence permit.
Not extendable — plan around the 6-month gap
Unlike Greece's extension path, Croatia's Digital Nomad Visa is valid for up to 12 months and cannot be extended. Once it expires, you must leave Croatia and can only reapply after a six-month period — worth factoring into any longer-term plan from the outset rather than assuming a smooth renewal.
Tax and family. Digital nomads are exempt from Croatian income tax if their income is foreign-sourced and they aren't tax residents in Croatia. Family members can apply for temporary stay based on family reunification, provided they meet the general conditions.

Why work with BIZ TRP
Croatia's annually re-indexed income threshold and firm 12-month, non-extendable window are the two things worth getting confirmed before you commit to a move date.
- Current threshold confirmation. We confirm this year's exact income or savings threshold before you apply — this figure changes annually.
- Application method guidance. We help you choose the fastest and most appropriate application method for your situation.
- 6-month gap planning. We help you plan around Croatia's non-extendable visa and mandatory reapplication gap if you intend to stay longer term.
Common questions
Can I renew or extend Croatia's Digital Nomad Visa?
No — it's valid for up to 12 months and cannot be extended. You must leave Croatia once it expires and can only reapply after a six-month gap, which is worth planning around from the start.
Does the income threshold change over time?
Yes — it's re-indexed annually at 2.5× the previous year's average net salary in Croatia, so the exact figure shifts each year. We confirm the current threshold before you apply rather than relying on a fixed number.
Will I owe Croatian income tax?
No, as long as your income is foreign-sourced and you don't become a Croatian tax resident.
Ready to move to Croatia?
BIZ TRP confirms the current income threshold and manages your Croatia Digital Nomad Visa application from documentation to residence registration.
